Celebrity Culture- Justine Sacco
Celebrity culture is considered a very popular culture in today's society. We constantly make someone's personal life part of our daily entertainment. Today, anyone can sit down at a computer or even with a mobile device and search anyone they want. Anyone can sit in the comfort of their own home and judge anyone they want in silence. We can make or break that person's fame. People can become famous for the good they do or the bad choices that they decide to make. Every celebrity was at one point another normal person walking down the street; just like Justine.
Justine Sacco was your ordinary woman until she made a horrible decision. Her decision was the turning point in her career. She made the choice to post a racist and offensive tweet before heading on a trip to Africa. During her flight she unknowingly became famous, but not in a good way. People around the world noticed what she posted. They made sure she realized that what she said made her an awful person by tweeting at her.
When Justine landed her life changed. She was informed her tweet was trending. Not only had Justine lost her dignity she also lost her job. She had become famous in a matter of hours just because someone shared her tweet and Americans did their thing by breaking others down for fun.

I agree with you in saying that what Justine Sacco tweeted was wrong. Do you think that all of the backlash she got was deserved?
